(Ecns.cn)--A 21-year-old security guard surnamed Dong in Beijing's Changping District was arrested Tuesday for cheating four girls out of over 53,000 yuan ($8,210).
Dong was sentenced to jail for two years on the crime of fraud and was told to return the 53,000 yuan. He must also pay a fine of 2,000 yuan ($310).
In 2009, the security guard met a girl surnamed Zhang and became her boyfriend. Using QQ, an online messenger service, Dong soon began an online relationship with a female friend of Zhang's named Li.
He then used the same method to contact three other girls, all friends of Li's, using fake names.
Dong told the girls he was a police officer in Hebei Province and the son of a county official before charming them out of 53,000 yuan, which he claimed was for his tuition or his father's medical treatment.
