(Ecns.cn)--A woman left alone in a rented house in Chongqing successfully delivered her own baby on Monday morning.
According to local news media, the 26-year-old woman woke up with a pain in her belly on Sunday evening. With her husband away on business, the woman dragged herself to her neighbor's house for help, but nobody was home.
The women surnamed Liu then tried to call her husband but her phone ran out of credit. With no help in sight, Ms. Liu decided to lie down on her bed and wait for the neighbors to return.
They didn't arrive in time.
Her water broke at 9 a.m., and when she went to the bathroom she was shocked by the sight of the baby's head already on its way out. She later claimed that there was no time to feel pain or be scared, so she calmly squatted down and delivered the baby herself.
With the baby in her arms, Ms. Liu then crept along the wall to her window and called out for help.
Her neighbor in a downstairs shop immediately responded and called 120. An ambulance soon arrived and took the mother and son to the hospital.
The baby boy weighs two kilograms and appears to be quite healthy.
