(Ecns.cn) – The world's first Shouxin museum for souvenirs and special products opened in Macao on Thursday to promote local culture, according to a People's Daily report.

Visitors find Macao's mouth-watering dried pork slices and almond cakes irresistible, and no trip to Macao is complete without visiting the "Street for Shouxin," where many local food shops are located.

Big Californian apricots are essential to the hand-made cakes, said one shop owner, while "secret skills" are applied in making the dough.

However, bakery owners are not shy about showing off their skills. The process is transparent to tourists and onlookers, who can even take pictures while the chef shapes and bakes the cakes, which are also delicately wrapped in fine packaging.

Shouxin in Macao does not necessarily mean local food, but a culture to be presented and preserved.
