(Ecns.cn) -- A German with the Chinese name Wu Zhengrong who has lived in China for nine years has opened a bakery for deaf-mutes in Changsha, capital of central China's Hunan Province.

Wu can speak fluent mandarin Chinese and is engaged in educational work for deaf-mute children. Because it is difficult for them to get jobs when they grow up, he opened the bakery to teach them how to make bread, cakes and pastries.

Wu's wife is also from Germany and goes by the Chinese name Du Xuehui. They both work for a charity organization in Changsha and have provided funding for nearly 100 deaf-mute children to go to school.

Wu says they hope to realize the dreams of some of the children who have expressed interest in Western-style pastries. A girl named Chen Chen is one of them, who wishes to open a bread shop of her own in the future.

Wu says he is not a pastry cook himself, but has hired two qualified bakers. He hopes that more deaf-mutes will benefit from his bakery and start businesses of their own.
