(Ecns.cn)！South China's torrid coastal city of Xiamen has recently witnessed a number of naked swimmers, stirring heated discussions among locals, many of whom fancy the idea, according to local news portal fjsen.com on Wednesday.
Though skinny dipping is nothing new to Europe it has yet to catch on in China. But some of its less bashful citizens are quickly taking up bathing in the buff.
"I swim naked in the sea early in morning, no big deal," said a local resident surnamed Chai. Many locals shared the same attitude, claiming that they frequently encounter naked swimmers and are cool with it.
The idea caught on after two foreigners were photographed swimming nude. Since then naked swimmers have flocked to the city in the past month.
Mr. Huang from Shanghai told the website that because he is restrained in his hometown, he felt much more comfortable swimming naked in Xiamen. He spent 10 days in the coastal city and fulfilled his dream numerous times.
Following a post online calling for a naked party by the sea, many residents suggested that a swimming area should be designated exclusively for nude swimmers.
But Peng Yiwan, vice chairman of the city's tourism association, told the media that given the traditional customs and related laws, it's still premature to promote such an idea.
