(Ecns.cn)--Within the nearly two decades since 1994, over 300 security guards at the prestigious Peking University have been admitted to colleges. Some have even entered key universities, according to Wang Guiming, head of the security service on campus.

Wang said that they encourage the security guards to pursue further studies and also help them realize their dreams.

"We create a good study environment for the security guards," noted Wang, explaining that they make the shifts as convenient as possible for the guards and allow them to attend some lectures. "The professors are usually very nice," Wang added, "and sometimes offer them books and computers."

"Besides," Wang continued, "the Pingmin School of Peking University, a school aiming to provide training for the migrant workers working on campus, also allows 20 security guards to attend lectures there every year。"

Speaking of the possible brain drain since most of the guards take up new jobs after graduating from college, Wang said: "We let them go and firmly support them. They will find better opportunities where they can use their talents and abilities to the fullest. Moreover, they will be good advocates of all the security guards in Beijing."
