(Ecns.cn)--China Central Television (CCTV), which enjoys the highest audience ratings in the country, announced Tuesday at a promotional event in Beijing that a reshuffle is expected as an effort to enhance the supervisory function of media.

One of the most notable changes is to occur on CCTV News, a program that has been widely watched in China since 1978 and that has a comparatively solemn style. Beginning next year, the news program will introduce a more amiable style with more attention on breaking news.

Topics in Focus, another popular program that has been an important watchdog on many controversial events, including the latest Bohai Sea oil leak incident, is to cover more topics concerning the livelihood of the country. In addition, the program will cooperate intimately with consumers' associations and keep a close eye on related government policies.

Aiming to be more "close to the audience," the television station has already launched two brand new shows. One of which is a live show of news investigations and the other is a talk show on current social and cultural events in the country.
