(Ecns.cn)--A 6-year-old girl in Chongqing was born with a deformed left hand, on which the first joints of her forefinger and middle finger stick together, resembling a pair of scissors.

Her parents had been taking her to various hospitals since she was three. However, their efforts always ended in vain until this month when Tian Xiaofei, a local doctor, finally agreed to operate on her hand.

The operation was quite challenging, according to Tian, "since the severely deformed finger joints had been sticking together."

"The most difficult part was the skin grafting after the joints were separated. We cannot make skin grafts directly onto bone, just as we cannot grow plants on stone," explained Tian.

Fortunately, due to meticulous preparation, the procedure was successful.
