(Ecns.cn)--Following the attempts of several cities to add moral standards into the evaluation of a government official, the State Administration of Civil Service announced three days ago the latest professional ethics training program for the country's civil servants. For the first time, traditional official virtues will be promoted, said the Beijing News.

According to the plan, civil servants from administrative government departments of all levels will receive training in rotation during the next five years to enhance their sense of responsibility for the people.

During the six-session-long training, topics including duties and obligations, proper views of the world and the power and civil servants' responsibilities will be discussed in detail with case studies.

The announcement caught the immediate attention of the media, following the widely watched incident in which a civil servant in Shenzhen brutally beat his parents last Sunday and stirred an intense discussion.

It also revealed that such training will be adopted into new civil servant outward courses. And in the future, the enhancement of professional ethics among civil servants is to become a long-term target for the government.
