(Ecns.cn)--With 4 million birds representing 298 species migrating to the area, the Yellow River Delta Nature Reserve has entered its annual zenith of bird watching seasons.
This reserve, covering 153,000 hectares, has been attracting more and more rare species every year with its salubrious climate and edibles. The extensive preserve is a popular habitat and "halfway house" for the red-crowned crane, oriental white stork, white-naped crane,grey crane and others.
According to Zhu Shuyu who heads up the research station, the wetlands consists of large mudflats and marshes which provide abundant vegetation and a variety of aquatic organisms that sustain the migrants and help them multiply.
