(Ecns.cn) – A 1.5-meter-long crocodile weighing 20 kilograms was caught by a man using his bare hands in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, reported the Today Morning Express on Tuesday.
The man named Qu Kongjun is reportedly a big fan of the popular documentary "Animal World," from which he had learned the techniques for apprehending crocodiles.
Mr. Qu had been upset after his dog was accused by neighbors for stealing their ducks. The dog is well behaved and has received professional training, according to Qu, but he could find no evidence to clear the animal's name.
However, last week as Qu walked his dog near a wooded area at a creek, two other dogs started barking suddenly and sprang out. His dog was also unable to contain its curiosity and dragged Qu towards something.
Though Qu did not immediately see what it was, he knew it must be a crocodile judging from the tracks.
By recalling things he had seen in "Animal World," a very famous TV show in China, Qu stirred the water with a tree branch to provoke the creature.
When the crocodile stuck out its head, Qu grabbed its snout and dragged it out of the water. With his hands clamping the croc's upper and bottom jaws, Qu was able to subdue the animal.
He explained that the crocodile has very slow heart rate, so it can stay underwater for a long time. And though it looks ferocious, its bottom jaw is its Achilles' heel, he added.
