(Ecns.cn) – A man who has disposed of waste from public toilets for eight years has made 19 technical innovations to improve the system used at the disposal station where he works, according to a Tuesday report by Beijing Morning Post.
Wang Gangcheng, 53, works at a manure disposal station in the Shijingshan District of Beijing, where he is responsible for keeping 260 community toilets clean by disposing of over 400 tons of manure every day.
Wang says there are often different things mixed in the manure, including mops, bricks, dead cats, etc, which sometimes block up the solids and liquid separator they use to dispose the waste from public toilets.
However, one of Wang's inventions has successfully solved the problem of frequent blockages, and also helped ease the odor of the working environment.
Though Wang received limited education, he is recognized as an innovator at the company. Since he is also devoted to improving sewage systems, many of his inventions have even been put to use by equipment manufacturers.
However, Wang worries that he will not find a successor to carry on his career, as it is an unattractive option for most young people.
