Beijing residents have complained that meals provided by some takeaway food businesses are unhygienic, reported the Beijing Morning Post.

A woman surnamed Yang, who orders her lunches at work from a restaurant that has no physical store, said she kept finding "disgusting things" such as hairs in her food. These takeaway services promote business by handing out flyers outside office buildings.

The report found that some of these stores are located in narrow and tatty lanes, surrounded by trash. Officers from the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Administration and Law Enforcement said they would investigate these claims.
