The National Bureau of Statistics and Shanghai University of Finance and Economics have jointly set up a big data statistical science center.
The center, located at the university, will study the theoretical and computational methods of big data statistical science, and apply research results to related fields. It will also provide scientific and policy support toward the country's economic development for decision makers.
"The interdisciplinary center will work as a vital base for big data statistical science and academic exchanges in China. It will strengthen the links and cooperation among government, enterprises and academic bodies to boost economic development and innovation," said professor Huang Jian, the director of the center.
Xian Zude, chief statistician at the National Bureau of Statistics, said the center will help promote the healthy and sustainable development of efforts that combine production, study and research, and further improve self-innovation capabilities.
He said the National Bureau of Statistics will boost cooperation with the university in fields such as open and benchmark data.
