The Supreme People's Court (SPC) will soon release a new judicial interpretation ruling on environmental tort disputes, an official with the SPC said on Thursday.
The interpretation applies to not only general environmental civil action, but also environment litigation for public interest, said Wang Xuguang, deputy presiding judge of the SPC's environmental resource trial division.
The judicial explanation is aimed at unifying standards of ruling environmental infringement cases, clarifying issues of liability fixation, exemption and reduction of liability, and liability-bearing among polluters, said Wang.
In January, the SPC issued an interpretation ruling on non-governmental organizations to bring lawsuits against those who commit environmental violations.
