Soccer is sparking some huge development in China. The country's latest reform plan for the sport has set clear goals, including taking the national team to the highest level and eventually hosting a World Cup.
And, in a country that absolutely adores the sport, soccer coaches and players in Brazil are eager to take advantage of China's enthusiasm, and are eager to bring their skills to this new market.
More than 20 Brazilian footballers are now playing in China, such as 23-year-old striker Ricardo Goulart, who was bought by Guangzhou Evergrande for some US$18 million
Another Brazilian star in the Chinese trade is 29 -year -old Diego Tardelli who signed a deal worth more than US$5 million with Shandong Luneng. Tardelli is now the first China-based player to be called up by Brazil's national team.
While Brazilian clubs owe more US$1 billion in unpaid taxes, China spent some US$100 million importing players only last year. As China's interest in Brazilian players soars, Brazilian football players are beginning to dream of moving to the Asian country to earn high salaries and boost the sport.
