China is willing to work with Lithuania to enhance political mutual trust and deepen pragmatic cooperation on the basis of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit, China's ambassador to Lithuania said Wednesday.
Wei Ruixing, the newly-posted Chinese ambassador, made the remarks while presenting his letter of credence to Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite at the presidential palace in Vilnius.
The people of China and Lithuania enjoy an enduring friendship though both countries are far away from each other geographically, he said, adding that China attaches great importance to the development of friendly cooperation and relations with the Baltic country.
During the meeting, Grybauskaite discussed with Wei about the growing strategic importance of bilateral relations and cooperation in international organizations, education, exchange of students and cultural spheres.
The two sides also talked about economic cooperation. Lithuania is seeking to increase exports to China, according to earlier reports.
The two countries established diplomatic relations in 1991.
