China Central Television will team up with Austria's National Television Station to shoot a documentary about China's grand Yarlung Tsangpo River, located in the southeastern part of the Tibet Autonomous Region.
The deal was struck at the ongoing Cannes TV festival, hailed as the biggest and most influential of its kind.
Entitled "The River From Heaven", the documentary will focus on the natural environment and ecology along the Yarlung Tsangpo River, which is China's longest river on a plateau and one of world's most elevated waterways.
The shooting crew will trek along the river from its upper to lower reaches, in an effort to showcase its complete landscape and ecological status.
CCTV's Science and Education channel, China International Television Corporation and the National Television Station of Austria will jointly franchise, shoot and issue the documentary.
The shooting will start in a few weeks, and will conclude in 2016 or 2017. Soon after, images of Tibet and the mythical Yarlung Tsangpo River will be in front of TV audiences.
