Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen Monday morning left for Indonesia to attend the Asian- African Summit and the activities to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Bandung Conference to be held from April 22 to 24, a senior official said.

"The prime minister will take part in the 10th anniversary of the New Asian-African Strategic Partnership Summit on April 22-23 in Jakarta and the 60th anniversary of the Asian-African Conference on April 24 in Bandung," Sry Thamarong, minister close to Prime Minister Hun Sen, told reporters at Phnom Penh International Airport before departure.

"We hope that the summit will be the bridge connecting Asian and African countries in a solid partnership and will exchange views to enhance economic development in the two regions," he said.

The first Asian-African Conference, also known as the Bandung Conference, was held in 1955 in Bandung, which brought together leaders and representatives from 29 Asian and African countries to discuss independence, peace and economic prosperity.

The Bandung conference adopted a final declaration containing 10 principles underlining respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity of all nations and recognition of the equality of all races and all nations.

According to Sry Thamarong, during his stay in Jakarta, Hun Sen will also attend the 24th World Economic Forum on East Asia to be held from April 20-21.
