Indonesia's English newspaper the Jakarta Post published a commentary on Thursday saying China grows with the world as a responsible power.[Special coverage]
The leading local English press dedicated a whole page on Thursday in commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of China-Indonesia diplomatic relations and the 60th anniversary of the Asian-African Conference, or, the Bandung Conference.
The headline commentary of the page, with the title of China Grows with the World, said, "Like Indonesia, China is proud to be a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural society in which different ethnic communities live together in harmony."
The article reviews China's economic achievement since the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, especially the start of the reform and opening-up policy in 1978.
"China's success story has benefited the entire world," the article reads.
"It has delivered and will continue to deliver unprecedented trade, investment and growth opportunities to Indonesia and the rest of the international community."
It said China has followed an independent foreign policy of peace in the global arena.
"It has upheld justice, stood alongside developing countries and led by example in maintaining world peace and promoting common development."
The article eulogized that China's role as a responsible power has been fully embodied through its active participation in overseas peace-keeping missions, mediation for regional disputes, nuclear non-proliferation efforts and battle against terrorism, climate change and the Ebola epidemic.
It said, in the meantime, China remains a developing country facing challenges.
"It is now advancing to a new round of comprehensive reform and opening up to achieve the Chinese Dream that will realize national prosperity, rejuvenation and a life of contentment for its citizens."
The commentary was released during the ongoing Asian-African Conference 2015, which runs until April 24, hosting leaders from both continents including Chinese President Xi Jinping.
