Two cargo ships collided with each other and one of them sank in waters off Guangzhou Port in south China early on Thursday, maritime authorities said.
According to maritime bureau of Guangzhou City in Guangdong Province, the collision happened around 3 a.m.. Seven people and 57 containers onboard the sunk ship fell into the water. All people were rescued by 4:20 a.m..
Officials with the bureau said four marine patrol ships were sent to the scene for rescue and a temporary traffic control was introduced in waters nearby.
Maritime staff are locating the containers and the sunken ship.
