Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong met with the visiting secretary-general of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) on Thursday, vowing more cooperation with the organization.

The Chinese government is putting a lot of effort into promoting the "three big ball sports" of soccer, basketball and volleyball, Liu told Patrick Baumann at the Zhongnanhai leadership compound in downtown Beijing.

Praising the FIBA's contribution to popularizing basketball around the world, Liu stressed the Chinese government is looking forward to more exchanges with the FIBA in events organization and sports marketing.
