Hong Kong "2015 voter registration campaign" was launched on Saturday, to encourage eligible voters to register for the District Council Election in November.
Hong Kong permanent residents aged 18 years or older will be registered as eligible voters before July 2.
Registered electors are not required to register again, but should notify the Registration & Electoral Office of any change in residential address or other registration particulars by August 25.
Electoral Affairs Commission Chairman Justice Barnabas Fung noted that the number of registered electors is about 3.5 million, which has increased by nearly 300,000 compared with the figure 10 years ago. But about 1.3 million eligible people have yet to register.
He advised those people to submit new registration applications, so that they can vote in the November polls.
