The city's first rural retirement community in Tianxianyu village in Huairou district officially opened on May 9, the Beijing News reported. The community is made up of 30 courtyards that have been rebuilt and transformed into retirement facilities. There's also a comprehensive service center and medical facilities.
About 30 percent of the courtyard houses will be used for long-term retirement residences, and contracts have been signed to fill them all. The rest will be used for "experience communities," which people can reserve for flexible lengths of time.
