American rock band Linkin Park announced that The Hunting Party tour will come to five Chinese cities in July on Thursday. Only eight hours after the announcement, the box office for the five concerts broke past 24 million yuan ($3.8 million).
The tour will support the band's sixth studio album The Hunting Party, which was released last June. The band's previous tour in China in 2007 set a record for pre-sales by selling more than 8,000 tickets on the first day of sales.
The tour will start at the Nanjing Olympic Sports Center on July 17, then head on to the CR Shenzhen Bay Sports Center on July 19, the Shanghai Hongkou Football Stadium on July 22, the Chongqing Olympic Sports Center Stadium on July 24 and end at the Beijing Workers' Stadium on July 26.
"We're honored to be headlining these five stadium dates and reuniting with our amazing fans in China," said Mike Shinoda, Linkin Park's rhythm guitarist and co-lead vocalist.
The band also released the QR code for their account on WeChat.
