The world's top-ranked Chen Long said he is ready to play against the former world number one Lee Chong Wei if China and Malaysia face each in the last eight round at the Sudirman Cup on Tuesday.
China eased to last-eight with a 5-0 victory over Thailand on Tuesday to top the group stage.
"No matter who is chosen to play (in the next round), Lin Dan or me, the most important thing is to win the match for the team," said Chen Long, referring to his teammate "Super Dan", the double World and Olympic champion.
Lee Chong Wei enjoyed his strong comeback by leading Malaysia to consecutive victories over South Korea and India after an eight- month sanction for doping.
The duel between Lin and Lee was the masterpiece of the international badminton for the last decade and a possible meeting between them in the quarter-final is a must-see matchup.
For Chen Long, Lee is also his familiar rival.
"I have played against him about eighteen times. I know that everyone would like to witness Lin playing against him," said Chen.
"For me, if I was drawn against him, I am OK to play and will play with my best. I had a better record against him. Anyway, Lee' s comeback adds more interesting things to watch for men's singles. "
On Lee's recent form, Chen said the Malaysian still need time to find his rhyme for the match.
"I think there are few changes of Lee's game. He has been away from the competitions for several months," added Chen Long.
The 14th edition of the Sudirman Cup, slated from May 10th to 17th, is the World Team Badminton Championships, held every two years, and one of the most prestigious titles in the badminton sport.
