Chinese comedian Zhao Benshan announced on Wednesday that he was donating 7 million yuan (U.S.$1.12 million) to victims in China's Tibetan earthquake zone.
Zhao donated all of his proceeds from the commercial he shot for Huo Xiang Zheng Qi Ye, a Chinese liquid herbal medicine. Zhao became the artist who has donated the most to the quake zone by far, West China Metropolis Daily reported.
Nepal's 8.1 magnitude quake on April 25 and the aftershocks also rattled China's Tibet. Liu Shuangping, the art director of Zhao's company, said Zhao's biggest wish is to make sure this 7 million yuan will be used to aid victims and build two schools for the children in the quake area.
Zhao also donated to the previous Sichuan earthquakes in recent years. Counting this latest donation, Zhao and his team have donated nearly 60 million yuan (U.S.$9.67 million) in total to charities.
