Chinese Embassy to Botswana on Thursday donated video conferencing equipment valued at about 2.8 million U.S dollars to Botswana's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in the capital city of Gaborone.
The equipment supplied by China's telecommunications giant Huawei have already been installed at the ministry headquarters and Botswana's high commission in Pretoria, South Africa.
During the donation ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Botswana Zheng Zhuqiang and Botswana's minister of foreign affairs Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi jointly revealed the equipment in the headquarters and successfully tested through a video meeting with Botswana's high commission in Pretoria.
Zheng Zhuqiang said the project represents the strength of the comprehensive bilateral relationship between China and Botswana.
Venson-Moitoi expressed her gratitude adding that they are very excited about this donation because it will facilitate improved communication between the ministry and the missions.
"The adoption of this technology will in no doubt ensure that we remain relevant in today's ever changing world of technology," she added.
