A two-year-old boy was saved Friday noon, nearly 20 hours after he fell into a well in Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi province.
He was sent to a local hospital, said rescuers. Doctors told Xinhua that the boy's injuries were not life-threatening.
The boy nicknamed Lele went out with his grandpa Thursday evening, before falling into an abandoned well at about 7 p.m.. The well, located in the southern suburb of Xi'an, has a diameter of only 40 centimeters and was more than 30 meters deep.
While rescuers arrived, they heard the boy crying and found him stuck halfway in the well. They managed to give him some milk, dug another well nearby and linked it with the previous one so as to reach him.
