China's armed forces will intensify their participation in international peacekeeping and humanitarian assistance as the nation's national strength grows, a white paper on China's military strategy says Tuesday.
China's armed forces will continue to participate in UN peacekeeping missions, strictly observe the mandates of the UN Security Council, and maintain its commitment to the peaceful settlement of conflicts, says the document, which is issued by the State Council Information Office.
China's armed forces will continue to take an active part in international disaster rescue and humanitarian assistance and dispatch professional rescue teams to disaster-stricken areas for relief and disaster reduction, says the document.
Through these operations, the armed forces can also enhance their own capabilities and expertise, it says.
China's military will engage in extensive regional and international security affairs, and promote the establishment of the mechanisms of emergency notification, military risk precaution, crisis management and conflict control, it says.
It will provide more public security goods, and contribute more to world peace and common development, the document adds.
