Beijing has banned all cigarette advertisements as June 1, the date that local regulations intended to clampdown on smoking come into force, draws near, the Beijing Times reported.
According to China Tobacco, both domestic and foreign cigarette companies are now prohibited from engaging in any promotional activities. Other regulations include banning smoking from indoor public areas, and stores within 100 meters from schools and children's activity centers are no longer allowed to hold tobacco retail licenses. Inspectors will be placed at restaurants and assigned scenic spots to enforce the regulations.
