Porn websites use foreign servers
The servers of over 80 percent of 500 websites identified by Chinese authorities as pornographic are located in the U.S. to avoid regulations in China, the Beijing Youth Daily reported on Thursday, quoting law enforcement officers in Beijing.
Some of the 425 websites ask users to download media players to watch porn videos, with many embedded with computer viruses. Aside from the U.S., Japan and South Korea are also popular locations of website servers.
The Chinese government has no jurisdiction over these websites but it aims to obtain evidence and have them shut down through international cooperation, said Shen Rui, leader of the Internet law enforcement team.
