A fire ripped through a pharmaceutical plant in Liaoning Province, northeast China, after an explosion on Friday afternoon, local authorities said.
About 200 kilograms of metallic sodium exploded after it came into contact with rainwater in a workshop at the plant in Shenyang, capital of Liaoning, according to the city's fire department.
No casualties have been reported and the fire is under control.
Production had been suspended for ten months.
