The State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters on Monday issued warnings for torrential rain and flooding across south and northeastern China.
Heavy rain will pelt areas to the south of Yangtze River as well as valleys around the Songhuajiang and Liao rivers in northeastern China throughout June, the headquarters said in a statement.
China is confronted with the complicated situation that it must tackle floods and droughts at the same time, said Chen Lei, minister of water resources.
Rainfall will not be evenly distributed across China this month, with some regions in north and southwestern China likely to suffer droughts, said the headquarters.
South China , which has seen terrible storms over the last week, will be battered by rain for the next 10 days, the National Meteorological Center forecast on Sunday.
