China has made notable achievements in improving rehabilitation for disabled persons, according to a government report.
In 2014, the central special lottery public welfare fund provided 1.063 billion yuan (171.4 million U.S. dollars) for the rehabilitation of the disabled, said a report on China's human rights in 2014, issued by the State Council Information Office.
Thanks to a number of key rehabilitation projects, 7.515 million disabled people received rehabilitation services of various kinds, including cataract surgery, visual aid, orientation and mobility training, hearing restoration and other rehabilitation services, it said.
Efforts were also made to train rehabilitation personnel, including 25,800 rehabilitation management staff, 55,900 rehabilitation specialists and 169,800 community rehabilitation coordinators.
China also boosted the construction of a barrier-free environment progressed in accordance with the law, with 650 cities and 1,600 counties nationwide making headway in this area, said the report.
