The Palace Museum announced on Monday that it has already filed an official complaint with police in Beijing concerning a nude photo shoot that took place within the museum without permission and that the case is currently under investigation.
On May 17, photos of a nude woman posing within the Palace Museum triggered wide controversy after they were posted on Sina Weibo by photographer Wang Dong, who also goes by the handle WANIMAL.
Palace Museum officials said they didn't publicly comment on the photos at first because they didn't want to bring them or this type of behavior more attention.
Palace Museum Director Shan Jixiang has called for the establishment of a professional law enforcement team to insure the security and order with the museum compound. He explained that in addition to the nude photo shot, the museum has long had difficulties with other illegal acts like unlicensed tour guides, traders and ticket scalpers.
