India's Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has expressed his appreciation for Chinese audience and media for being extremely generous to and whole-heartedly embracing his movie "PK" during its screening in China last month.
In an interview with the Indo-Asian News Service published Thursday, Khan said over one-sixth of the movie's 94 million U.S. dollar earnings have come from China following its screening over the past few months around the world.
Khan, the film's lead actor who also starred the blockbuster "3 Idiots" in 2009, said it reflects the "historical" love of Chinese audience for Indian cinema as well as the emotional and cultural bonds they share with this country (India)."
"PK" hit China's box office soon after a visit by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 14-16.
Indian film conglomerate Eros International announced key collaborations with leading Chinese film entities during Modi's visit.
