China's Ministry of Culture announced plans on Wednesday to make cultural SMEs in sectors including performing arts, entertainment, animation, cultural tourism, art work, design and online culture key recipients of support.
According to the ministry, SMEs have played a key role in stimulating China's cultural market, promoting creation and enriching the lives of people.
As such, it will provide both financial and policy support for SMEs to encourage companies with regional and ethnic characteristics to enter the global market and join international exhibitions and promotional events.
Details and schedules for the construction of Chinese cultural centers overseas were also revealed.
In April President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif unveiled plans for a Chinese cultural center in Pakistan. The following month, China and Belarus signed agreements to establish cultural centers in both countries during President Xi's visit to the Eastern European country.
By 2020, the number of Chinese cultural centers overseas is expected to reach 50.
