To build the Smart City and promote the idea of Green Life, Tianjin Sino-Singapore Eco-city has built a smart trash management museum, the first of its kind in the country. With a total area of 1208 square meters, the museum is not just a window to show the high technology but also an actual working transfer station.
Through short films and models, visitors can see the whole process: collection, transportation, disposal, recycling and production. From each step, visitors can understand the new technology and new model applied in urban trash management.
Though the museum is an actual trash transfer station, there is no smell of garbage around the system thanks to the obturated collection and technology of dedusting and deodorization. Along with the sound insulation, process automation and visualization, the whole system operates smoothly, safely and generates no secondary pollution in the environment.
"The museum is a vivid way to practically demonstrate the advantages and bright future of the pneumatic trash conveyor system," said He Peng, who works for the Solid Waste Center in Tianjin Eco-city. "It also encourages the locals to classify the trash and practice a green and low-carbon lifestyle."
The system will be applied in a total area of 5.3 million square meters and four separate systems are included, He said. The No. 2 system is finished and the museum is an actual working part of the system, with the whole 1.4 million square meter area and the total tonnage processed at 25.78 tons per day. The rest is under construction and will be put into operation next year, He added. When the project is completed, there will be 100,000 people enjoying the service and the total amount of garbage processed will be 87.2 tons per day.
