Torrential rain in central China over the past four days has left six people dead in Hubei Province, the local government said Friday.
Four of them were killed when their car was knocked into a river by falling rocks. One was killed in a landslide and the other was killed when a house collapsed.
The downpours, floods and landslides have damaged about 1,000 houses in Enshi Prefecture, one of the worst-hit areas.
The Enshi authorities said 2,400 people have had to be relocated and about 600 of them have needed government assistance.
Civil affairs departments of five counties have offered daily supplies and relocation funds to the people who were driven out of their houses by the downpours, the local government said. Enditem
