King Philippe of Belgium visited central China's Hubei province from Saturday to Monday, expressing hope for deepening cooperation in city building and culture exchanges.
The king arrived in the capital city of Wuhan, Hubei province on Saturday night, starting the first leg of his week-long state visit to China at the invitation of President Xi Jinping.
He was awarded an Honorary Professorship at the renowned Wuhan University, which signed a cooperation document on doctorate training with Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium. The king stressed the importance of language learning in promoting culture exchanges.
He also travelled to Dongfeng Motor Cooperation and attended a forum on urbanization. Hubei and Belgium signed deals on city building. He called for more cooperation between Wuhan city and Belgium in city development, low carbon industry and railway where Belgium has rich expertise.
Dongfeng Manager Zhu Fushou expressed willingness to learn from Belgium in terms of transportation, intelligent automobile and new energy.
The king will travel to Beijing from Wuhan on Monday night to continue his state visit to China, which will end on June 27.
