The regional government secretary-general of Northwest China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region is being investigated for suspected serious disciplinary violations, the local discipline watchdog announced Sunday.
Alimjan Maimaitiming, 55, is also a member of the regional government's Party leadership group. He has been Xinjiang secretary-general since March 2013.
He had also previously worked at a local university and he was editor-in-chief of the official Xinjiang Daily between 2011 and 2013.
The discipline inspection commission provided no other details.
