The former head of a hospital in southwest China's Yunnan Province was found to have taken 129 million yuan (20.8 million U. S. dollars) of bribes in cash, property and parking spots, provincial discipline inspection commission said on Monday.

Investigation found that Wang Tianchao, 57, former head of Yunnan's No. 1 People's Hospital, used his position to seek bribes related to construction projects, medical equipment, medicine procurement and doctor promotions.

He was found to have received over 45 million yuan in cash, 100 houses and 100 parking spots worth around 84 million yuan from 2004 to 2014, according to the commission.

Wang was detained for investigation of corruption charges last September and removed from post in March.

Over 20 million yuan of bribes and all the properties and parking spots have been seized. Wang's case has been transferred to judicial authorities.
