Macao's Science and Technology Week 2015 kicks off

"Science and Technology Week 2015 and the Achievements Exhibition of Science Popularization," sponsored by the Macao Science and Technology Council, opened here Friday.

Themed "Science and Perception -- Revealing the Mysteries of Cognition," this year's science and technology week attracted the participation of a total of 34 institutions from both mainland and Macao.

The event includes three parts: "Science and Perception -- An Exhibition Revealing the Mysteries of Cognition," "Achievements Exhibition of Science Popularization" and science popularization seminars.

"Science and Perception -- An Exhibition Revealing the Mysteries of Cognition" would allow visitors to understand the formation mechanism and limitations of human perception and cognition from multiple perspectives by revealing some perceptual illusions and misconceptions in the process of thinking and sensing through interactive games, quizzes and apps.

"Achievements Exhibition of Science Popularization" shows the findings of 52 science projects conducted by 21 schools and associations from Macao in various fields including chemistry, physics, biology, engineering, computer science, robotics. Meanwhile, 14 workshops, scientific knowledge contests and robot control competitions will be held.

Two seminars, "Tips for Communicating with Children-Sensitive Perception" and "The Way to Stars," where experts and counseling teachers will share their experience concerning popular science, will be held on July 4 and 5 respectively.
