Prosecuting agencies across China apprehended 254 fugitives implicated in duty-related cases in the first five months of 2015, the Supreme People's Procuratorate said in a statement Wednesday.
Among those captured, 14 had fled overseas, including Li Huabo, a former finance official, who is suspected of embezzling 94 million yuan (about 15.1 million U.S. dollars); and Dai Xuemin, the former manager of a trust and investment company, who is suspected of embezzling 11 million yuan.
Li fled the country in January 2011 and remained in Singapore until he was repatriated in May, while Dai escaped in August 2001 before being returned in April.
Procuratorial organs should intensify the "Sky Net" campaign, which aims to repatriate corruption suspects, and recover the ill-gotten gains of suspects in the second half of the year, said Procurator-General Cao Jianming at a seminar attended by high-ranking procurators.
