The Republic of Korea (ROK)'s Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se said Thursday that President Park Geun-hye would reach an important agreement on issues concerning the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) with her U.S. counterpart Barack Obama during the future visit to the United States.
"I think President Park would reach a significant agreement on DPRK issues during her (future) visit to the U.S.," Yun told reporters at a seminar in Seoul.
Park delayed her planned trip to Washington in June as the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) spread fast across the country. The MERS corona virus has infected 186 people, among whom 35 died, since the first case was reported on May 20.
Park was scheduled to pay a five-day state visit to the U.S. from June 14 and hold a summit with Obama on June 16. The two countries had agreed to reschedule Park's U.S. visit at an earliest possible date after the MERS outbreak abates.
Yun said the two leaders were expected to reach a more advanced agreement on DPRK's nuclear program and other issues in a way that China, Japan and Russia could all share the agreement.
