Tsinghua University High School has issued an international appeal for former students to help celebrate its 100th birthday.
The school launched an alumni website on Thursday at a 100-day countdown to the October 17 anniversary.
"Tsinghua High has nurtured 40,000 alumni who are distributed all over the world. We are promoting the event to invite them to return to celebrate the centenary," said Wang Dianjun, president of the high school, adding that old pupils can trace their classes through the website.
In preparation for the big day, the school launched an alumni office in October to provide a better service to alumni.
China's vice-premier Liu Yandong is an alumna. She visited the school twice last year and took an interest in the 100th celebration.
About 150 alumni, teachers and administrators attended the countdown ceremony.
The high school nurtured many notable former students, including Liu and Nobel Prize winner in physics, Yang Zhenning.
