City health authorities have set up 176 monitoring stations in key residential areas throughout Beijing to control the spike in mosquito populations brought on by recent rains, the Beijing Daily reported.
A set of safe, efficient and eco-friendly pesticides are going to be sprayed in designated areas to create a mosquito-free summer for residents.
According to the"2014 Beijing Health White Paper", the average mosquito density in Beijing increased 38.5 percent compared to the previous year.
The most densely-populated areas for mosquitoes are found at tourist attractions, residential areas, and green spaces in parks and hospitals, according to the paper.
