Mario Gotze's only goal in the second half helped Bayern Munich claim their second straight victory as the German powerhouse beat Italian giants Inter Milan 1-0 here on Tuesday.
Compared with the first match against Valencia, Bayern's manager Josep Guardiola made some changes as Manuel Neuer and Robert Lewandowski came back to starters.
Inter almost took the lead just two minutes into the game, as Brazilian midfielder Anderson Hernanes's powerful shot in the box was denied by Neuer.
Bayern's captain Philipp Lahm missed a golden opportunity in the 32nd minute. His shot went past Inter's goalkeeper Samir Handanovic but was blocked by newcomer Jeison Murillo.
Both sides made frequent changes after the break. The game culminated as the substitute Gotze rounded Inter's goalkeeper Juan Pablo Carrizo from Sebastian Rode's pass and sent the ball into the empty net.
Bayern's last game of this series is scheduled on July 23 against the Chinese Super League defending champion Guangzhou Evergrande.
