Police in southwest China's Yunnan Province said on Thursday that they liquidated a cross-border drug gang on July 11 and caught 22 suspects.

A total of 297 kilograms of methamphetamine and 14 vehicles were confiscated, police of Fengqing county in Lincang city said.

In January, a man known only as Liu and his family caught the attention of police who suspected him of purchasing drugs in Myanmar and selling them in the cities of Chengdu and Wuhan.

The investigation found that the gang had taken drugs from Myanmar to the provincial capital Kunming, and then distributed them throughout the country for more than two years.

Some border cities and counties in Yunnan--"transfer stops" between China, Myanmar and other Southeast Asian countries--have serious drug problems.
